Judy Katherine Steele was born on March 25, 1948, to Deryl and Bonnie Richie in Amarillo, Texas. She passed from this world on February 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Deryl and Bonnie Richie, and by her husband, Delwin Steele.

Judy is survived by her sister, Donna Hudson of Lewisville, Texas; her brother, Jerry Richie, and his wife, Misty Richie, of Lubbock, Texas; and her brother, David Richie, and his wife, Steve Ann Richie, of Burleson, Texas. She is also survived by her two sons, Rodney Steele of Amarillo and Jason Steele and his wife, DeLynn Steele, of Amarillo.

Her life was richly blessed with an army of grandchildren: Christopher Barker and his wife, Madison Barker, of Amarillo, Texas; Bethani Simms and her husband, Jason Simms, of Forney, Texas; Branson Steele and his wife, Adison Steele, of Amarillo, Texas; Hayli Steele of Amarillo, Texas; Nichole Musgrave and her husband, Austin Musgrave, of Amarillo, Texas; Candace Smaciarz and her husband, Hunter Smaciarz, of Amarillo, Texas; Rowdy Novak, Brittany Novak, and Kylee Novak, all of Amarillo, Texas.

She also leaves behind four great‑grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her.

Judy was a voracious reader with an endless curiosity for stories and ideas. She loved to travel and had explored the country from California to Washington, D.C., and everywhere in between. She cherished her family fiercely and found joy in adding touches of whimsy to the world around her. Her spunk, humor, and unmistakable spark were appreciated by all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed.
