Julia Anne McCuistion McGowen entered eternal rest on December 28, 2022. She was born March 13, 1938, to Travis McCuistion and Ada Cleo Bruner.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., March 13, 2023, at Dreamland Cemetery just south of Canyon, Texas. Arrangements are under the personal direction of Lighthouse Funeral Home in Amarillo.
Julia was a fiercely independent woman who loved life and family. She had many hardships over her life, but always believed that perseverance and hard work would bring her through. Family was of the utmost important aspects of her life and always strived to connect, build, and strengthen her bond to them.
She is survived by her six children, Martha McCandless, Erik Layman, Daniel Layman, Theresa Wheeler, David Layman, and Ty McGowen; her grandchildren, Lee McCandless, Travis McCandless, Lessa McCandless, Gene Wheeler, Haley Wheeler, Cleo Layman, John Layman, Katarina McGowen, Samantha McGowen, Jessica Reneau, Adam McNew, and Tyler Skeen. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Richard McCuistion and wife, June.
