Julian Larralde, 83, of Amarillo, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family Monday morning, February 9, 2026.

From an early age, Julian Larralde learned the importance of working hard to take care of his family. He spent his time working in the pastures of Sunbilla, a small town in Spain where he was born, as a farmer and shepherd. He often reminisced about walking along the border of Spain and France, swept away by the aroma of fresh grapes. Julian Larralde migrated to the United States in his young adulthood, where he worked and lived in many states, including Nevada, California, Wyoming, Texas, and Colorado.

Julian lived up to his paternal and maternal last names, Larralde, meaning “someone who lives near a meadowland or pasture”, and Guemberena, meaning “fertile land”. During his free time, you could almost always find him working on planting something in his garden, and he sure did have a green thumb. Everything he planted would blossom. If he wasn’t working on his garden, he was out fishing or fixing something around the house.

Although he was reserved and quiet, he had a heart for sharing Christ. Up until he was physically unable, he would always carry tracts with him and hand them out to everyone, sharing the gospel. Over the last decade or so, one of the things he enjoyed most was spending time with his grandchildren. He could be feeling down or sick, but as soon as he saw one of his grandkids, he recharged with a burst of energy. He loved to spoil them with little trinkets and sweets. His love language was to make sure everyone was fed, and his family will always remember him for cooking for them or bringing them food.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Juliana Larralde, and father, Pedro Larralde.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 35 years, Gladys Larralde, of Amarillo; his children, daughter Julia Larralde married to Jesse Gonzales, grandchildren Baldemar Jr Acosta, Leonardo Acosta, Crystal Ann Acosta, and Daniel Acosta, and 6 great grandchildren from Dallas, Texas; daughter Rachel Gomez married to Rodolfo Gomez, grandchildren Jose Velaquez, Debbie Martinez, Christian Gomez, Mia Gomez, and 2 great grandchildren from Grand Prairie, Texas;  son Julian Larralde from Amarillo, Texas; daughter Ericka Doblado married to Cristhian Doblado, grandchildren Ebanney Doblado, Cayden Doblado, Ivory Doblado, and Bethany Doblado from Amarillo, Texas; son Daniel Larralde married to Madina Larralde, grandchildren Nyla Larralde, Naveah Larralde, and Oliver Larralde from Raeford, North Carolina; siblings Maria del Puy, Purita Larralde, from France; Maria Nieves Larralde from France, Maria Gloria Larralde from Spain; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
