Justin Dale Cowan, born on December 31,1987, in Fort Worth, Texas and beloved resident of Amarillo, departed from this world on August 2,2025 at the age of 37. The son of Kelli Jean Willis and Jimmy Dale Cowan. Justin built a life full of passion and left an indelible mark that cannot be removed on all that knew him.
More than just a son, brother, uncle, partner, and friend, Justin was a vibrant force of nature. He possessed a boundless spirit and an infectious love for laughter, always striving to brighten the world around him. His heart beat to the rhythm of the music and the roar of fast cars, “they did not have to be fast for him to want them” embodying a life lived fully and freely. Justin’s innate curiosity led him to master the art of rewiring electronics.
Known for his honesty and grounded perspective, Justin was a true “Realist” yet he carried within him the wild spirit of his youth. The boy who fearlessly road his BMX, jumped trains, and navigated the town on railways and cars, adventures evolved into a man who embraced life on his own terms. His generosity knew no bounds; he was always there to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Justin Dale Cowan lived authentically, loved fiercely, and left behind a legacy of joyful memories and spirit that will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by Gwen and Willie Willis, Velma Cowan, Lynn Hemby, Danny Cowan, Sr. Charles Cowan, Charles Cowan, Jr.
Left to cherish Justin’s memory are his parents, Kelli Willis and Jimmy Cowan; his siblings, Mara of New York, Latasha Ferrell and husband Chad and their children, Nadia, Aspen, and Brayden, of Amarillo, Texas, Greer and two children, David and Lilli of New York, Elle and her husband, and their three boys of New York, Breanna Cowan and Brandon Shelly and their six children, Rudy Jr., Aidryona, Nova, Patienclee, Brandon, Jr., and Faithlynn, of Amarillo, Chad Keesee, and Kaelee Cowan, both of Amarillo.
A limb has fallen from our family tree that Says “Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song; the good life I lived, when I was strong.”
Funeral Services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas.
