Katherine Marie Fuentes “Kathy”

Katherine Marie Fuentes “Kathy”, 72, of Amarillo, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on March 8, 2026. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on February 24, 1954, to Joe and Rebecca (Lovato) Fuentes.

Her faith was steadfast. She sent daily prayers to family and friends. Whenever anyone was sick or needed extra prayers, she was the person to call, praying the rosary daily. She often helped the Capuchin Poor Clare Sisters with doctor appointments and other needs. One winter, her daughter made scarves for all of the nuns.

She loved sewing, making Halloween costumes, quilts, and memorial blankets. She also enjoyed embroidery.

Kathy loved music and dancing, often creating new dance moves. Her home was always filled with music.

When she became a grandmother, nothing else mattered. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. When her great-grandkids arrived, she was overjoyed and bragged about them whenever she could, whether asked or not.

Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family. Once her health declined and she couldn’t leave the house, her grandson Bryce bought her an iPad so she could see pictures and videos. She FaceTimed with her family, which helped her feel connected.

Her sense of humor kept her family laughing. You never knew what she might say next. Kathy leaves behind many memories that her family will treasure forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Frank Fuentes, Sr., and Rebecca Lovato, and her sisters, Vickie Haltom and Theresa Fuentes.

Left to cherish Kathy’s memory are her sister, Alice Samaniego, and her husband Johnny; her brother, Joe Frank Fuentes Jr., and his wife Georgia; her caregiver Richard; her daughter DeeDee Carver, and her husband Shane; granddaughter Allison Carver; grandsons Bryce Carver and wife Kate, Trent Carver and wife Kaley; great-grandsons Damon, Bryce II, and Miles; great-granddaughter Eliana Marie; nieces Rachel, Tisha, Tammy, and Danette; and nephews James and Randy.

A memorial service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas. Texas.
