Kelly Shawn Mayfield, 61, was a man of immense generosity and a beacon of kindness to all who had the fortune to know him. Born on July 14, 1963, Kelly lived a life filled with vibrant conversations, and deep connections. On March 12, 2025, he left this world, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and love that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Kelly’s heart was as vast as his love for carpentry, a profession he pursued with the same commitment he offered to those around him. His home was a sanctuary to many, a testament to his gentle soul and his belief in the power of kindness. His legacy is not just in the beautiful structures he built as a skilled carpenter, but in the lives of the people he touched with his generosity.
Kelly’s vibrant personality and contagious laughter will be deeply missed by his sons, Steven Mayfield, Ronnie K. Mayfield and Trey Mayfield. His memory will be carried on by them, and by all his friends and family who were fortunate enough to experience his boundless kindness and spirit. His love for his family was unwavering, and his devotion to his sons and grandchildren was truly inspiring. He had a hard life, but in the end, he was so proud of his sons. He was papa to many friends’ kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his father Ronnie L. Mayfield and his son, Michael Mayfield.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Steven Mayfield, Ronnie K. Mayfield and wife Lucy, and Trey Mayfield, and wife, Samantha, all of Lubbock; his mother Jackie Mayfield, and his sisters, Cassandra Pelton, Angie Hooley and husband Van, Sherry Tijerina, and Rita Mayfield and partner, David Carranza, all of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Chloe, Shayla, Philip, Nikola and Abel. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Kelly was a great guy. I became friends with him here at Independence Village Apartments about a year ago. He loved talking about his truck and his Cadillac. That Cadillac was a classic! He loved his boys. He talked about them, too, and how much he loved them. I’ll miss our little chats out side, when we went out to have a cigarette.
You will be well missed my friend.
I’ve known Kelly since the 90’s. He had a warmth about he. He protected me from bad situations and was someone I could count on. I saw him at a funeral 6 months ago and in true Kelly fashion he stepped me his phone number. I’ll never forget the love he had for his boys and his friends. Im definitely going to miss you. My heart sank for all the Mayfield family when I read Kelly had passed away. It’s never easy and we pray God gives you the strength as you prepare to say goodbye to Kelly until you all are reunited again in Heaven. Mom (Raydell) always loved seeing Kelly’s kids when they were little and would ride their bicycles thru her circle drive. Sweet memories and sending love and prayers.
