It is with profound respect and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the beloved Larry Coleman Chadwick, 72, of Amarillo, affectionately known as “Papa” to many. Born on the 26th of August, 1952 in Borger, Texas, Larry was a faithful embodiment of courage, dedication, love, and reliability. His journey in this world came to a peaceful close on June 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that is as enduring as the structures he built as a carpenter and as profound as the love he had for his family.

Larry spent his life pursuing what he loved, crafting a career as a carpenter, and retiring in 2010 from Tristate General Contractor. Each beam he placed and every nail he drove was a testament to his dedication and skill. Larry was a man who believed in the value of labor and the beauty of creation, his work as a carpenter mirrored his character – strong, reliable, and built to last. As Confucius once said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Larry lived this wisdom to the fullest, combining his love for creation with his dedication to his family, making him a true cornerstone in the lives of those who knew him.

Larry was a devoted husband to Michelle, and a loving father to Jared Chadwick and wife Sarah, Andy Chadwick and wife Sarah, Kimberly Chadwick, Amber Dickenson and husband Chad, Vicki Rivas and husband Gabe, and Don Thorn and wife Heather. He was also a cherished brother to Diane Nall. Papa Larry found immense joy in his family, his 25 grandkids and 9 great-grandkids were the light of his life. He thrived on the thrill of watching race car races, football, baseball, softball, and most other sports. The love he had for his family was only rivaled by his love for sports.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillis Chadwick, his daughter Kendra, and his grandson Joe Moreno. He leaves behind a family that will forever cherish his memory and will continue to honor his legacy.

In the words of Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Larry made all of us feel loved, valued, and cherished. His absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held this Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo.
