LaVez Lingo, 76, of Amarillo passed away September 5, 2024. He was born on July 2, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas to Byron and Ruby Lingo.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas.
LaVez was a happy man who loved to laugh. His family meant everything to him. He loved his kids and grandkids with all his heart. His hobbies were fishing, camping, and garage sales! He worked as a mechanic, oil salesman, and later as an antique dealer on 6th Street.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan. There was no one like him, and he will be missed immensely by all. Rest in Peace sweet LaVez, until we meet again.
LaVez was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Ruby Lingo; his brother, Mario Lingo; a sister, Carol Dunaway, and his in-laws, Hershel and LaVada Smith.
His memory will live on through his beloved wife, Diane Lingo; daughter, Tiffany Lingo; son Shane Lingo and wife, Carly; grandchildren, Dillon, Montana, Bailey, Harlee, Gracie and Gavin; a brother-in-law, Cecil Smith, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many longtime friends that he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to Gracie Project, Panhandle Paw or the Humane Society.
Lots of great memories with Lavez,Mario and all the rat pack(Johnny,Kenneth,JoeHe liked to come take our 45 records!(Mario would tell me). We all liked going to Grand Bowl play the pin ball machine! My mom liked to play against them.
Lavez was a lifelong friend who introduced me to many of my friends when I moved to Amarillo in the second grade. We didn’t go to the same elementary but we both hung out at Benton Park. All of us guys did about everything together. I could trust Lavez with anything. He was a great guy who loved Diane and his kids and grandkids more than anything. I loved him like a brother along with ur group of Eastsiders.

Condolences on loss of Uncle Levez. As the oldest of your nephews I remember you guys in high school and Levez did always have a good sense of humor and was a good fishing buddy to Grandpa Smith.
As time goes on I lost touch with a lot of cousins , aunts , uncles but always knew you and Levez loved your family.
