Linda Arlene Burrell

Linda Arlene Burrell,79, of Canyon passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024.  Linda was born, Linda Arlene Boales, to Clyde and Johnnie Lee (Weaks) Boales in Belton, Texas, on March 7, 1944.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.

Linda attended Belton High School in Belton, Texas she met her future husband, Bill, when they were sophomores at Belton High School. They were married in the 1st Presbyterian Church in Belton Texas on August 10, 1963. The couple, being military, traveled to Panama City, Florida, Battle Creek, Michigan, and North Bay Ontario, Canada. Linda always loved to travel.

She worked at Sam Houston University, in the registrar’s office and the Department of Criminal Justice. Upon moving to Canyon, she worked as a secretary in the Music and Fine Arts departments, at West Texas A&M University. She became the office manager for the Student Activities and Upward Bound programs where she wrote grants, coordinated student tutoring and student travel activities. Linda and Bill had four children, 13 grandchildren and yet to be determined number of great-grandchildren. She never lost her love of travel and made two trips to Alaska, trips to Mexico and multiple trips to California and up and down the west coast.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson Jeffery Weiss.

She is survived by her husband Bill; four children, Kristen Robberts of Canyon, William Burrell Jr, of Utah, Lee Ann Taylor of Amarillo and Kendall Nix of Bushland, and of course the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Linda was a precious lady and I was blessed to have known her. I miss her sweet smile and her sense of humor. I will cherish the memories of her.
