Friends, Family and loved ones, we gather to celebrate the life of Lisa Pauline Tobar, a remarkable woman who touched countless lives with her warmth, wisdom and unwavering love.

Lisa Pauline Tobar, 63, of Amarillo, passed away on May 17, 2025. She was born on June 18, 1961, in Amarillo, to John Martin and Lillie Besson.

Lisa’s greatest joy in life was her family. She raised five children, Amanda, Jason, Jameson, Santos and Alysia with hard work, love, and dedication. As a grandmother to two sweet great-grandchildren, she was filled with joy when they all made memories together. Be it for holiday gatherings or just because the day ended in d-a-y; being together is what mattered most to her heart.

Beyond making memories with her family, Lisa’s love for adventure was undeniable to all who knew her. “We’ve only got one life to live” was her favorite words to tell those she loved most, and she courageously lived out those words daily. Amongst the top adventures that she traveled, her favorite by far was to New Orleans! A vibrant and lively city, whose culture, community and food set her soul on fire. Inspiring her to make the most of each moment she was given.

Lisa’s caring spirit illuminated each room she walked into. She chose to use that light within her to brighten the lives of the individuals she cared for as a nurse. Talented in the field of medicine and bedside manner, she worked at TDCJ, also in the PDICU’s of Oshner’s and Northwest Hospitals, as well as BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

When asked what they would remember most, some of her sweet grandkids made mention of her style. A style that was filled with western and Harley Davidson attire, which was extremely fitting as some of her greatest loves in life were riding horses and motorcycles. Others said that they would never forget the sweet aroma that was grandma, a smell of strawberries and champagne. The smell that embraced them whenever she was near or holding them close in a hug.

As we say goodbye to Lisa, let us remember the joy she brought to our lives and the lessons she taught us about love, kindness and generosity. Her spirit will live on in the memories we share, and in the values she instilled in all of us.

Lisa, you will be deeply missed, and your legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire us all. We love you.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Tina Martin; her loving grandparents, Elbert and Pauline Cox; her father John Carrol Martin, and her mother, Lillie Irene Torres.  Left to cherish her memory are her children, Amanda, Jason and Jameson Coffey, Santos and Alysia Tobar, and her brother, John Martin.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., June 14, 2024, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 Interstate 27, Amarillo, TX 79119.
