Loretta Faye Martin, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on August 16, 2026. She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on June 1, 1942, to John and Alice Farmer.
She married Marshall Martin in Bethany, Oklahoma, in 1963. She held a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Bethany Nazarene College. Loretta retired from the Amarillo Public School System after a meaningful career of working in the Program for the Deaf.
Loretta and Marshall were lifelong members of the Church of the Nazarene. She sang with the Palo Duro Metro Chorus of the Sweet Adelines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Farmer, and a daughter, Tamra Lynn Martin.
Left to cherish Loretta’s memory are her husband, Marshal Martin; two sons, Roger Martin and wife Kathy, and Brian Martin; a daughter, Michele Reeve and husband Dewayne; eleven grandchildren, (Roger’s) Matthew, Austin, Elizabeth, Abigail, (Brian’s) Eli, Jacob and Eli and Jacob’s mother Katrina Martin, (Michele’s) Bethani, Taylor, Kameryn, Willow, and Robert Dean, and seven great-grandchildren, Wilde, Harmony, Matt, Jr., Alice, Liam, Mac and Shawn.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, at Valley View Church of the Nazarene, 7601 S. Western St. in Amarillo.
I met Loretta at Valley View Nazarene church Bill and I moved here from New Washington state. We met Loretta and Marshall at church. She was so sweet and always had a smile and she made us felt welcome and Loretta and I went to red hat events. She will be missed.
Loretta made me feel welcome when I joined the Adelines. I lacked music for Christmas and needed some help. Loretta supplied everything for me. She was a great room mate when we went to summer camp in Denton one summer. She was the the one to accompany us on the piano as we learned our music for the Community Chorale. Loretta was a talented Godly woman whom I will always miss.
Such a beautiful lady inside and out. I will miss seeing and talking with her at our band rehearsals and concerts. I’m glad to have known such a dear soul. God bless her and the family, especially Marshall.
