Louis Wade Read, “Lou”, 60, of Amarillo, passed away August 9, 2024. Lou was received by his Savior surrounded by brothers and sisters with pride and love.

He was a talented commercial and residential painter for many years, had an awesome creativity for room remodels. He displayed his talents in many ways, motorcycles, cars, big trucks, RC cars, and knives.

Lou loved outdoor adventures including hunting, fishing, and camping with his brothers and friends.

He was compassionate and would unselfishly give to others before he kept something for himself. His pride and joy was his best friend and companion, Buster, his dog. Buster and everyone who knew Lou will miss him dearly.

Lou was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Patricia Bishop; his father, Alvin E. Read; a sister, Dena Hendricks, and his stepmother, Lois Read.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Michael Read and wife Sheryl, Randy Read, Monte Read and wife Kim, of Amarillo, his sisters, Lisa Hunt and husband David of Cypress, Texas Donna Sumner, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Darla Crocker and Eric, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Lynette Sharp and Marshall, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Valerie Pagan, and Alex, of Miami, Florida.

A celebration of life for Lou will be held at a later date.
