Lydia Fay Atkinson Ford

Lydia Fay Atkinson Ford of Amarillo Texas passed away on April 21st 2021.  She was born in Brazoria County in 1945 to Oscar Leo  Atkinson and Emma Isabell Laird Atkinson. Lydia was the 4th of 5 children and was close with all of her siblings.

Lydia spent many years as a legal assistant in Amarillo, Tx and then she started a career as an administrative assistant the Department of Energy. She married Elmer Lee Ford (aka Bud) in 1975.  She always referred to Bud as her soulmate. Together they raised 5 sons. After retiring, from Pantex, Lydia enjoyed her life by fishing, spending time with her family and taking care of her dog Leah.

One of her favorite things to do was give to others. She never missed an opportunity to make sure her family had everything they needed. She is remembered for her delicious dinners, her singing and her love for others. Oh and she hated onions almost as much as she loved sunflowers.

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and grandson Dylan Taylor.

Lydia is survived by her sons Jason (Shannon), Amarillo; Jeremy (Liz), Amarillo and his children (Nick, and Jade); Doug (Becky) of Llano, his daughter Markki (Gabe Marinez) children Haiden and Gabbi Marinez , Amarillo; and Greg and Steve; as well as her sisters Lou Keith (David) of Grapeland; Pat Taylor of Amarillo; Norma Meek of Sylvester, Tx.; And her brother Richard Atkinson (Ladelle) of Bastrop, Texas. Lydia also had many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

Lydia will always be remembered for her ability to to make everyone laugh. She had a way to make you feel at home and she was tireless in her desire to see those around her happy.

A small service will be held on Monday 4/26/21 at 12:00pm at The Lighthouse Funeral Home
4207 SW 21st Ave, Amarillo, TX 79106.

    She was a joy and so much fun to be around.You could never be sad around Lydia. She had a unique voice. I loved to hear her talk. Always happy. I will miss her.
