Marco Barrera, born on November 1, 1987, in Amarillo, Texas, was a man whose heart was as vast as the Texas sky. His journey on earth ended on September 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and life well-lived. Marco was a man who loved deeply, laughed heartily, and lived his life with an infectious zest that left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Marco was a man of many passions. He was a fervent lover of the outdoors, a skilled grill master, and a talented woodworker. His hands, always eager to create, brought to life the beauty he saw in the world around him. Yet, his greatest love was for his family. Marco’s bond with his father, Luis Barrera, was a testament to their shared passion for handyman activities and a friendship that surpassed the usual father-son relationship. His love for his little brother, Lucas, was profound, a sentiment that was clearly reciprocated. Marco’s mother, May Sopha, his Uncle Oscar Barrera, his sister, Gabbie Frey, and his love Skylar Soileau were also cherished parts of his life.
Marco’s Christian faith was a fundamental part of his life. He lived by the words of the Bible, particularly the verse in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” His actions mirrored the teachings of Jesus Christ, and his life was a testament to his deep and abiding faith. He was a beacon of light, a source of comfort and strength for those he held dear.

There will be a viewing/visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo. A Service will be held at the same location at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14.
Marco was such high spirited and had that sweet smile he would know how to make you laugh and also had a smile on his face . You are going to be missed my friend . Fly high friend 💚🤍

Mijo.its been almost a month.. its been you and me for the longest .. I go to job sites by myself now. Mrs.Susan and Mr. Darrel both miss you. So does Mrs. Shele and Mr. Bill. But no one misses you more than me.. we share good memories about you.. you came a long way in your knowledge and skills in carpentry. Im so proud of you.. I gave you to the Lord when you were 2 days old. Instructed by my father.. God gave me 37 yrs with you and for that im forever grateful.. He is our God. He decided your departure.. it.still doesnt make it easy.. you touched and broke alot of hearts. Ill never stop loving you nor will I ever leave you.. you behave yourself
