Margarita “Maggie” Ulibarri, 95, of Amarillo, was ushered into the arms of Jesus on Christmas Day, and is celebrating in heaven with her husband, Nabor Ulibarri, her parents and her son, Ernie. She was born August 26, 1929.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1210 SE 11th St. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S. Hayes St.
Maggie was raised in Galisteo, New Mexico on a Sheep Ranch. She treasured her memories of shearing sheep and helping her father as a child. She was the apple of her father’s eye, and they remained close until his passing in 1972.
While working as a waitress in Tucumcari, New Mexico she met the love of her life, Nabor Joe Ulibarri, Sr. They wed in December 1945. They had two sons, Ernest and Nabor Joe, Jr.
Nabor and Maggie moved to several towns in New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle before settling in Amarillo, where they remained for the rest of their lives.
She held many jobs in her lifetime, she was a beautician, teacher, prescription delivery driver, and a long-time employee of Angel Funeral Home, where she worked until she was 91 years old! Of all the jobs she held, the jobs she loved the most were not for pay. She loved raising her sons. She played a big part in helping to raise her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Maggie was a devout Catholic and spread her love and faith to all who knew her. She began serving families by saying the rosary when she was only 10 years old and continued throughout her life. She served as a Guadalupana at Our Lady of Guadalupe for many years.
She was a lady of many talents. She sewed clothes for her family, made quilts and crocheted countless stitches. She made rosaries to give away. She was famous for her biscochitos, tortillas and empanaditas. She loved gardening and was still pulling weeds into her 90s.
Maggie was the most selfless person anyone who knew her would ever meet. She loved with her whole heart and leaves a legacy of Christ-like love behind. Her last wish was to hold her great-great grandson, Elliot Gimpel; but that was not meant to be. He entered this world on December 24th, and she left this world on December 25th. One life came into this world, and another left to be with our Lord and her loved ones that had passed before her.
She was preceded in death her husband, Nabor Ulibarri, her parents, Margarito Gonzales and Anita Casaus, and her son, Ernesto Margarito Ulibarri.
Maggie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Nabor Joe Ulibarri, Jr. and wife Helen; her siblings, Gloria Chavez and Samuel Gonzales and wife Kate; a daughter-in-law, Heather Ulibarri; granddaughters, Anna Toliver and husband Eric, Daphne Sanders, Carrie Gimpel and husband Dallas, Tara and Tamara Meier; grandsons, Monty Ulibarri and wife Kara, Nabor Joe Ulibarri, III and wife Andrea, Angel Moses Ulibarri and wife Emilia, Stevan Magin Ulibarri and wife Rose, and Bret Meier; thirteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

What a beautiful soul Margret was to me and my wife. I never knew her to complain, but always with a loving heart for every one especially her children and grandchildren. May God give her eternal peace. Amen
Auntie Maggie
You were my 2nd Mom. I learned much from you. Thank you for being my shining light. I will miss you tremendously
Memo, you were always the sweetest and most caring woman I ever knew. I loved every memory I had with you, especially when you would give me a hard time just as much as I’d do with you. I love and already miss you more than you could imagine. Say hi to Papo for me.
Maggie was one of my mom’s dearest life-long friends. Our families took trips together & visited so often, & for the longest time I thought we were related. I had the pleasure of seeing her for the last time at Legacy last month. Rest in peace sweet lady & say hello to my mom as you enter Heaven’s gates.🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
Memo’s voice and hugs were always very warm and welcoming. Her smile was contagious and when she told you she loved you it felt amazing! I will never forget the time she gave me a sewing kit because I wore jeans with holes in them haha she always liked giving you a hard time which was always funny. Love and miss you Memo!
