María Guadalupe Fuentes Valdez

On Monday, Nov 9, 2020 María Guadalupe Fuentes Valdez was called home to be with her Lord and join her beloved husband, Jose Valdez, who pre-deceased her.

She was well known for her great Love of family, strong faith, and her cooking and baking skills. Known to family and friends as ‘Lupe’, she was always willing to contribute a dish to gatherings, her salsa and white chocolate cheesecake were always a hit.

Maria was born in Del Río Texas on July 6, 1934 to Rodrigo and Teodora Fuentes, part of a large migrant family. She met the Love of her life at a dance and they settled in Hereford TX to give their children a better life.

Left to cherish her memory are 3 children, Nelda Gonzalez and her fiancé Tim Rutledge of Amarillo, Joe Angel Valdez and wife Wilma of New Mexico, and Anjelica Baker of San Diego; 3 grandchildren Adrian Valdez and wife Jeanlyn, Amber Baker, and Eric Gonzalez, and one great grandchild Aiden Draper, infant son of Amber. Also many extended family members.

A celebration of her life will follow at a later date, details to be announced.
