Born in Clinton, OK on May 18, 1940, Don embarked on his final journey on January 4, 2025, leaving a world that profoundly felt his absence. After a life brimming with joy and excitement, he made his home in Amarillo, Texas, where he became a beloved figure in the community.

Don was an accomplished contractor in the construction industry, but his world was far from confined to the drafting table and the job site. He lived a life of boundless adventure that took him from the tranquil streams where he enjoyed fishing, to the heights of mountains he climbed, and even to the depths of the ocean where he loved scuba diving. His love for adventure was infectious, and he was often accompanied by friends and family on his many escapades. He could often be found riding his bike, flying, skydiving, and a myriad of other adrenaline-fueled activities. No matter where he was, Don had a knack for turning strangers into friends, his positive and upbeat personality instantly captivating anyone he met.

Don’s life was not all about thrill-seeking. At his core, he was a thoughtful, supportive family man, deeply devoted to his loved ones. He is survived by his children, Angie Winburn, Brandy Dafun, Scott Winburn, and Evalyn Wheat. His memory will be cherished by them and by all who knew him. Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Winburn, and his mother, Evalyn Winburn.
