Martin “Wolfgang” Hargesheimer, 84, of Amarillo, passed away April 18, 2025.
Today, we gather not only to mourn, but to honor and celebrate the life of Martin “Wolfgang” Hargesheimer—a man who drove the long roads of this country with steady hands and a steady heart. Born on March 7, 1941, Wolfgang lived a life that was full of grit, purpose, and unwavering love for his family.
He was the husband of the late Shella Hargesheimer, a partner through the ups and downs of life. Together they raised a family that would carry on his legacy of strength and resilience.
Wolfgang was a truck driver by trade, a job that suited him well. He loved the open road, the rumble of a good engine, and the satisfaction of an honest day’s work. But beyond that, he was a proud member of the Amarillo Bird Dog Club, a passion that reflected his appreciation for discipline, loyalty, and companionship—values he lived by every day.
He was preceded in death by his son, Martin Dean and by his brother, William Hargesheimer, and now rests reunited with them in peace.
He leaves behind a long line of loved ones who carry his name, his blood, and his spirit. His beloved sisters Becky Feagley, and Sherry Jones; daughters, Danett Hargesheimer, and LaVell Hargesheimer; daughter-in-law, Cheri Hargesheimer; grandchildren, Chris Hargesheimer, Shella Krickett Hargesheimer-Parish and husband Rickey Parish, Christian Hill, great-grandchildren, Mckayla Knox, Raven Madron, Alexis Madron, and Ryder Parish, and great-great grandchildren Jasper Knox and Joslyn Knox.
From his siblings to his great-great-grandchildren, Wolfgang’s family spans generations. Each of you is a testament to the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.
Wolfgang was the kind of man who didn’t need to say much—his actions, his work, and his loyalty spoke louder than words ever could. He believed in doing right by people, in showing up, and in staying true to who you are. And that’s exactly what he did, every mile, every day.
As we say goodbye, let us not focus on the sorrow of his passing, but instead on the fullness of his life. Let us honor him by continuing to live with the same strength, love, and commitment that he showed us. And as the wheels of life keep turning, may we remember Wolfgang on the road, under a wide-open sky, free and proud.
Rest easy, Wolfgang. You’ve made your last delivery. The journey is done. And the legacy remains

Martin was always honest and honorable in all he undert00k. Linda and I met him through the bird dog club and knew if he was involved it would be right.

Wolfgang you where and amazing friend to my family. From running the roads with dad ( LD Wilcox aka Lonesome Drifter) to watching us kids play. Rest easy.
i remember when me and my sidling used to fight over who got to sit in his lap.We used to have so much fun at his house.Hes not just my daddad he is my best friend and i miss him more then anything.I love you so much daddad i miss you like crazy.Its so hard to belive your gone.I hope you and nanny are together and with wolfie i miss you all so much i love you daddad..
I am saddened to hear about Martin’s passing. He was a good friend. I enjoyed serving with him on the ABDC board and working with him on field trials. He will be missed. Praying for his family.
My dad was a great man he was stern but fair and he loved his family and was a great friend to those that knew him. Him and mom are together again so I know he is at peace
