Mary Frances “Fran” Baland

Mary Frances “Fran” Baland reached the end of her beautiful life on December 2, 2023, and the beginning of her journey in Heaven. Fran was a caring sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She left the world peacefully at the young age of 90, with her daughters by her side.

Strong, strong-willed, and a little stubborn, Fran will be remembered for her strength and her heart. A beautiful soul, inside and out, she poured love into the lives of everyone around her.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Fran. She loved a quiet evening with a book, many an afternoon at bridge, and a cup of coffee anytime at all. She loved watching baseball, but mostly the Cardinals (although the Rangers were okay too.) She will be forever missed. Until we meet again, we love you, Gran.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Chloe Williams; two brothers, Robert Williams and David Williams, and a sister, Jean Worthington.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan Lanpher Folker, and Sandra Lanpher; a granddaughter Janet; great-granddaughter, Tessa, and two brothers, Phillip Williams, and Tom Williams and two grandsons Josh and Sam.

Family and friends are invited to join Fran’s Memorial Service on December 8, at 10:00 a.m. at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western Street, Amarillo.

There will be a viewing Thursday, December 7, from 10:00-2:00 and the family will receive visitors from 2:00-4:00 at Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo.

  1. Nancy Beshears

She was a wonderful aunt to us. Always happy despite any difficult things she was going through. She,my mom and Grandpa would play cards for hours if they could find a fourth.

  2. Frances Pope

Fran was a beautiful, vivacious lady. She will certainly be missed in her Chapel (Pastor’s) Sunday School Class.
Until we meet again, Fran, rest in peace.
