It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished Matthew McCaid Carver, affectionately known as “Munchkin, or Monkey” to his mama and also known as “Lolli’s Angel,” who departed this life on August 1, 2024. Born on July 19, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas, Matthew’s vibrant spirit and adventurous demeanor graced our lives for a precious three years. His infectious smile and sparkling eyes were a testament to his loving nature, and he was a beacon of joy to all who knew him. As Helen Keller once said, “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.”

Matthew was a spirited and smart child, gifted with an innate curiosity that often led him to explore the world around him with fervor. He was a treasure trove of joy and happiness, his laughter a sweet melody that filled our hearts. His presence was a reminder of the beautiful simplicity of childhood, a testament to the power of unfiltered love and innocence. To quote the words of A.A. Milne, “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” Matthew, indeed, took up a colossal space in our hearts.

Matthew leaves behind a legacy of love. He is survived by his beloved parents, Bracen Carver and wife (Matthew’s bonus mom), Samantha, and McKenzie Williams; his adoring grandparents, Deadra Carver, Jeremy Carver, Sherena Shafer, Micah and Patricia Stewart; his great-grandparents, Vandie and Angela Hooley, David and Debbie Carver, and his loving uncles and aunts, Layton Carver, Mason (Talia) Carver, Maizey Williams, Matthew Martinez, and Katrina Stewart. He is also survived by his precious cousin, and several great aunts and uncles who also adored him.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Crossroads Church, 1924 S. Polk, Amarillo, Texas. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Llano Cemetery, 2900 South Hayes Street, Amarillo, Texas, 79103. As we gather to remember Matthew, we celebrate his life, his spirit, and the immense joy he brought into our lives. Though he was with us for a short time, his impact was profound and everlasting.
