Nathan Ross Nolen, 55, of Amarillo, known to many as Nate or “Nate Dogg,” was called home by our Lord on Friday, October 25, 2024.
The world met Nate on May 7, 1969, in Amarillo, Texas, born to John and Elizabeth (Dauner) Nolen. A true Texan at heart, Nate carried his Texan spirit wherever he went. Like Jesus, he was a master carpenter, building homes, schools, and other structures throughout his life, leaving a lasting mark through his craftsmanship.
Nate’s love for God was unwavering. His passion for God’s love, grace, and lessons was a frequent topic of conversation, and he shared it freely. Nate also enjoyed making people laugh, listening to music, and raising bulls and bulldogs.
Nate was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Frances Dauner; great-grandfather, William Dauner; and his mother, Elizabeth Carol Dauner. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Austin and Caroline Nolen; his father, John Nolen; his soul mate Tammy Rose; his siblings, Meredith and Jeff Nolen, Bill Thompson, and Laura Baucom; and by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3402 S. Jackson St.
I have known and loved Nate since we were kids in school. He was always laughing or making us laugh. Thank you Nate for loving my kids the way you did and always showing me respect and just being a great human being. Now you and Tanner can laugh again together! God bless you and your family.
I went to high school with Nate. He and I had our Sophomore and Junior English class together. There was no mistaking, when Nate was in the room you knew it. He kept us all entertained with laughter. When I looked at Nate I saw joy and happiness. Once you were a friend of Nates you were his friend for life. He left us way too soon. He’s with you now, Lord; Enjoy him, we sure did.
