Ramona Rios Garcia, 82, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. She was born in Zavala County Texas on April 8, 1943, to Pablo Ríos and Martina Lozano.
Ramona worked as a housekeeper at Hansford Hospital, CNA Hansford Manor, helped her husband, Pedro on the farm, driving a tractor and was a home healthcare aid in Dallas and Amarillo, Texas.
She loved to sew, shop, get pampered at the nail salon, and watch movies with her granddaughter. Ramona also loved the outdoors, four-wheeling and going to the lake to ride jet skis; but above of all of this, she loved time with her family.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo Ríos, and Martina Lozano; her four brothers, Celedo, Mage, Pablo and Mario Ríos; two sisters, Aurora Ríos, and Candy Rivera, one daughter, Alicia Lowry, and two grandchildren, Jonathan Scott Mendoza, and Aaron García.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Linda Lujan and husband, Miguel, and Tammy Mendoza and husband, Michael Hudson; sons, Pete Garcia, Jerry Garcia and wife, Stephanie Tuey, and Jerald Garcia; grandchildren, Chris Garcia, Ryan Garcia, Bobby, Dominique, Lucas, and Abraham Lujan, Jenny Hernandez, Richard, Chris, and Michael Nicholas, Sonya Martínez, Lupe Mendoza Jr., Allison Perry, Sabrina Everett, Brooke Garcia, Peyton Young, Christian Young, Paige Daly, Jocelynn Garcia, and Andrew and Lachelle Tuey; great-grandchildren, Landon, Hilary, Sharlyn, Abby, Andrea, Omar, Brisa, Chantel, Jade, Kacey, Heileigh, Mason, Kelsey, Christiana, Andrea, Isabelle, Christian, Aubrey, Atticus, Jed, Trey, Brinley, Hadley, Rylee, Presley, Melissa, June, Hazel, July, Freya, Willow, and Arabelle, and great-great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Abby.
A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Lighthouse Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2500 S. Bolton St., Amarillo. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery East, Corner of 34th and Arthur Streets.
My Tia Ramona was a beautiful person inside and out. I loved her dearly. I am sorry for the loss and my condolences go out to her family. I know she loved each and every one of them with all her heart. I love y’all.
