Randy Baker, 73, of Amarillo, passed away on September 25, 2024. He was born in Amarillo to Lee Roy and Hazel (Bramlett) Baker.
His family moved to Clovis, and he graduated from Clovis High School in 1969. Randy married Paula Baughman on June 12, 1970. In 1973, he started working at Santa Fe Railroad where he started on the bridge gang. He also was a brakeman and conductor, and he retired as an engineer in 2011 with 38 years of service from BNSF.
After retirement he enjoyed building birdhouses, woodworking and planting and caring for a garden. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on antique tractors, watching movies, and going to auctions.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Hazel Baker, and a brother, Keith Baker.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 54 years, Paula Baker; two sons, Jeffrey and Kevin Baker; a sister, Cindy Ackerman and husband John, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Gary Baker and wife Bernice of Clovis, New Mexico, and David Baker and friend Leona McKnight, all of Roswell, New Mexico; a sister-in-law, Freda Baker of Plainview, Texas, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, Memory Gardens of Amarillo, 14200 Texas Plains Trl., I-27, Amarillo, Texas 79119.
He will be missed, not forgotten! Thankful for getting to know my Uncle Randy! He was a good friend!
We worked together on the RR an were friends an partner in the salvage business for a while, we vacationed togather. I will miss him he was a good man. Prayers for his family. God Bless
Randy had a sense if humor that came naturally. He could always make me laugh! Thank you for that, bro. God bless your heart and soul, I will miss you.
My fondest memory of my brother Randy was playing catch in our front yard as kids, he was an excellent pitcher, taught me to catch and bought my first glove that I still have. I believe Randy and my brother Kieth are sharing in a whole new adventure. I’ll see you again one day, I LOVE YOU.
