Raul Gonzalez was a man who deeply loved Jesus, his family, dancing, working for the school district, and spending time working on cars. He was a proud United States Army veteran who faithfully served his country during the Vietnam era and was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Medal, and Vietnam Sharpshooter Medal.
Raul enjoyed daily scripture, cruising around town, being surrounded by family and friends, and bringing joy wherever he went. Known as the life of the party, he had a warm spirit, a great sense of humor, and a heart that made everyone feel welcome. His presence, laughter, and love will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Raul was preceded in death by his father, Anselmo Gonzalez Sr.; his mother, Graciana Gonzalez; his daughter, Rebecca Gonzalez; his brothers, Anselmo “Chemo” Gonzalez Jr. and Jose Manuel “Pepe” Gonzalez; his niece, Yvette; and his nephews, James and Paul.
He is survived by his son, Raul “Rudy” Gonzalez Jr.; his brother, Gonzalo “Chalo” Gonzalez; his sisters, Blanca Silva, Mary Barraz, Hope Castillo, and Irma Gonzalez; and many loving nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will forever cherish his memory.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Daily County Cemetery in Muleshoe, Texas.
I loved him very much him and my grandmother always spoiled me and my son. He was a wonderful grandfather to me from a little girl. I became a young woman. I pray for strength and guidance through this hard time and send my condolences to all his family.
Raul was a wonderful person , I knew Raul since I was just a little kid. He never changed. He was always the same to me , super nice person 😢He would always tell me I was family and that he loved me. But the most important thing is that he loved his family , his children and his grandchildren. He always talked about what they were doing , how proud he was of them. Always a positive conversation when it came to his family ,children and grandchildren. It was always beautiful to hear him talk. We already miss him so much.
