Rawlslend Keck

Rawlslend Keck, 72, of Amarillo passed away April 11, 2023, after a brief illness. She was able to spend Easter with her entire family present to celebrate and it brought her great joy.

A Memorial Service celebrating Rawlslend’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave.

Rawlslend was born December 12, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas to Lawrence and Bonita (Ferrell) Roberts, Jr.

She was a feisty lady who originally thought about being a legal secretary. She attended school shortly but was “bored” with having to take dictation! She opted instead to attend beauty school and spent years as a hairdresser. Her clients enjoyed the time they spent with her. Rawlslend ended up owning a beauty school for a few years. After selling it, her family moved to San Diego where they lived for some time. She moved back to Amarillo in 1988 and has lived here since then. She worked for Walmart beginning in 1993 where she worked for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Bonita Roberts, Jr.; her brother Larry Roberts and his wife Lora, and a grandson, Treston Kinney.

Rawlslend is survived by her children, Christy Kinney and husband Steven, Lawrence Jasper, and wife Melody; eight grandchildren whom she adored, and six great-grandchildren as well as two more on the way. She is also survived by one sister, Deborah Michele Hodges, of Amarillo.
