Richard Connally, Jr.

Richard Connally Jr. “Papaw” 78 of Amarillo Texas, passed away peacefully at his home October 2, 2023, with his loving wife of 32 years, Melba at his side. He was born on February 9, 1945, to Richard and Wilma Connally, Sr.

He spent his life in the lumber business, and later drove a semi for Affiliated Foods. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Erlene Adams; his brother George Connally; and his grandsons Loren Saunders, and Seth Connally.

He is survived by his wife Melba; his brother Butch Connally and wife Betty; a son Richard “Richie” Connally and wife Sharlotta; a daughter Amy Connally; a son Allen Connally and wife Charity; a daughter Renetta Kennedy and husband Shawn; a son James (Jim) Brice; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren that he loved very much.

His Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2023, at Las Tiendas Courtyard, 6666 Amarillo Blvd West., Amarillo.
