Royce Dan Gleaves, 71, of Amarillo, passed away on January 16, 2025. He was born in Amarillo on December 18, 1953 to Alva Duane Gleaves, and Lorene Coffey.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave., 3707 Wolflin Ave. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6969 E. Interstate 40, Amarillo, Texas.
Dan was a life-long resident of Amarillo. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1973 and almost immediately married the love of his life, Narita. Dan was a hard-worker and dedicated to providing for his wife and son. In a lifetime of work, Dan rarely missed a day and was always the first one there. Dan loved his family, riding motorcycles, the Dallas Cowboys, his Country, and though a life-long democrat, but loved Donald Trump. Dan did not know a stranger and was liked by all who met him, evident in the many people who called him friend over the years. Dan will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Duane and Lorene Gleaves, and his brothers, Alva Dale Gleaves and Micheal Gleaves.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Narita Gleaves of Amarillo; his son, Daniel Gleaves of Amarillo; grandchildren, Makayla Gleaves, Dawson Gleaves, and Bryceson Gleaves of Amarillo; his great-grandchildren, Aurey Turner and Tru Turner of Amarillo; three fur babies, Sami, Hari, and Twink, and one sister, Ann Sherrill of Columbus, Kansas.
Dan was a great guy. We became friends when he began working at the airport. I would caught him somewhere talking and his cleaning cart unattended, I would sneak up steal his cart and hide it. I would sit back somewhere and watch him look for it. He knew it was me and would walk around looking for me and his cart. It didn’t take him long to start keeping up with his cart but every now and then I would caught him not paying attention and the game would began. He loved his Dallas Cowboys loose or win… Rest easy my friend 💕💕

Remember him as a supervisor At IBP / Tyson Foods. Great man and I cherished working for him and became good friends through the years. He was hard working and easy to get along with. RIP Dan !

Dan was a Social Butterfly! He never knew a stranger in his life. He could make great with anyone anytime. He loved “People” He was Great at any job he had because he was A Hard Worker for one thing and Two he would try and help Anyone that needed it.
