Russell DaWayne Ince was loved by his family and friends. He passed away September 19, 2025, at the age of 61. He was born to DaWayne and Patricia (Bramblett) Ince in Amarillo, Texas on March 6, 1964, at the osteopathic hospital and he was the only baby there.
Russell was the quiet one in the family, he could entertain himself for hours, playing with his G.I. Joe’s, and his bag of Indians.
His hobby was putting model cars together, drawing and playing in the dirt. One time he got his picture in the paper for, winning a contest of drawing the best picture depicting firefighters.
Russell played the cornet in school and was also in the marching band. They went to State twice with his music.
When he was younger, he and his mom would listen to classical music, and make stories to go along with them. He enjoyed playing with his cousins, Randy and Ricky, and all the others when they were together. There were always games, horsing around, pranks, and a lot of laughter.
Russell and his dad watched a lot of football, discussing which team was the best, and which players were the best, they could do this for hours. You could hear them say, “Bring on the food! We can’t miss any of this.”
Russell, his brother, Raymond, and their dad worked on cars together at the house shop. If you went out there, they would be discussing parts or paint or getting into arguments about how the part didn’t fit or the paint didn’t match. Russell was good at designing flames to go on cars, and trick painting.
He enjoyed going camping with family and friends, fishing and riding motorcycles. He was a dare devil in general with his bike.
Russell was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Ince, and is survived by his parents, Dawayne and Patricia Ince; his daughter Emily Ray, and husband, Chris, Kid, and their children, Axton, Alba and Mazie. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Emily Jean, and her husband, Chris, Berry; countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. I40, Amarillo.
Russell was very quite but he was very thoughtful and a very sweet guy. He was my boyfriend in middle school at Horace Mann. He drew me lots of little pictures, he even drew our names on the wall in his room at their old house. He wanted to walk me home almost every day. His wonderful momma made that happen as much as possible, she would come and get our band instruments & books, drive to my house and wait for us to get there just so he could walk me home. He would tell me all about painting cars, some days we talked about school, the sky, or some days we just smiled walking hand in hand. Life changed and we went our own ways, but the few times I saw him later in life, he was always as happy to see me as I was him and was just as sweet and thoughtful. We would talk and catch up, we even talked about walking home together the last time I saw him. Sad to know I won’t run into him randomly, but glad to know he is in heaven for me to see again. Such great memories of a great guy!
