Sandra Carol Wiley (Moon), aged 82, passed away on July 20, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. Born on June 11, 1942, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Sandra’s life was marked by her relentless positivity and drive. She attended Bellaire High School in Houston, Texas, and led a dynamic professional life as a bookkeeper, accountant, part-time teacher, real estate agent, and in the mortgage business, where she thrived on sharing her extensive knowledge with others.
Sandra was a vibrant soul who embraced life’s challenges with an unwavering upbeat attitude. Her intellectual pursuits were diverse, ranging from medical journals to science fiction, reflecting her insatiable appetite for learning. An adventurer at heart, she delighted in exploring new cultures, sciences, and the thrills of travel, yet her devotion to family remained paramount. Sandra’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance and love, qualities she instilled in her family as she insisted that everyone she knew had a work ethic and got an education. She often took in other family members and friends to live with her and all who did, came out a better person.
She is survived by her brother, John Moon; her children, Jessica Lynn Wiley and her life partner, Deborah Walton, Tracy Diann Long and her children, Courtlyn, Darby, and Graden Long, Amanda Carol Morell and her husband, Eric Morell and their children, Troy and Morgan, and Dory Alan Wiley and his wife, Joanna Wiley, and their sons, Austin and Grant. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren through Graden and Cameron Long, including Mason, Mary Katherine, and Avery. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Knorr and Harold Moon, and her beloved husband, Delbert Wiley, who was her hero.
A memorial service will be held in Ballinger, with details to be announced. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Sandra’s name to a charity of choice. Sandra’s legacy of love, learning, and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew her.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Sandra’s passing. She was always kind, thoughtful and inclusive. I am blessed to have known her. We met during covid as new members with Northwood Woman’s Club. Her warmth, generosity, and heart for those less fortunate left a lasting impact on everyone.

In 2006, i was 38 years old. I had been friends with Sandra for about 7 years at that time. Sandra was one of my top mentors my complete career. She was in Houston doing our Monthly training, and she asked me if i would take her for a ride on my Harley. I was set back a bit (Sandra was a very prim and proper lady) but at the same time i was honored. She told me she doesnt trust anyone else to take her on a ride. On the final day of training she came to my office and said “let’s go!” SO i gave her a quick tutorial on how we do this and we were off. (stuck to side streets for a number of miles to keep her as comfortable as we could. After about 20-30 minutes, she said she wanted to go faster, so i asked her if she wanted to get on the freeway, to which she replied “YES!!” As we were riding down the freeway on our little 20-30 mile trip, i can still hear her giggling and laughing in my ear today. One of the best experiences of my life. Now, when we got back to the office and parked my Road King, she got off and said two things that made me laugh so hard ; “You Can NEVER tell Delbert!!!” “In my next life, im not going to care as much about my permanent Record” and gave me a huge hug. Thank you Sandra for being my friend, my mentor, my confidant and giving me one of the best days of my life. I Love You.
I met Sandra at Northwood Woman’s Club she was on my board when I was 2VP and we had many great times together . She loved Northwood and its purpose helping others. She was a dedicated friend and will be truly missed by everyone.
I didn’t know Sandra for a long time. But, from the very beginning I knew she was a lovely lady. She always had a smile and was friendly to everyone.
I am so very sorry to hear of her passing. My most sincere condolences to all who knew her.
Going to the Wiley home was always a pleasure, It was always inviting. Sandra made me a Micky Mouse cake that I will never forget. She leaves an amazing legacy in her children and grandchildren and I am sure her great grandchildren. Prayers for her family🙏
