Shanna Jo McMinn

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Shanna Jo McMinn, on January 14, 2024. Born on August 25, 1970, in Amarillo, Texas. Shanna was an unassuming figure of strength and support, always extending a warm hand to those in need. She faced many challenges in life but remained resilient. Maybe that’s why people never felt judged, in her presence. She knew their struggles because she walked some of the same roads.

Shanna was a beacon of light, her laughter infectious and uplifting. She had a gift for singing that brought comfort to many.  Her resilience was once again seen as she returned to her faith, embodying 2 Corinthians 12:9-10,

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Shanna was preceded in death by her loving mother, Brenda McMinn. We find comfort in the thought that they are reunited in eternal peace.

Shanna is survived by her father, Stanley McMinn, and her children, Heather Castillo and husband Austin, Briana Worrell and husband Brennen, Gabriel Evins and Isabella Evins. She was a doting grandmother to Aiden Worrell, and Karter Worrell. Her brother, Michael (Shane) McMinn, and many extended family also survives her.

We invite all who knew Shanna to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. Her life was a testament to the power of love, empathy, and resilience. Let’s remember Shanna for the beautiful, generous, and supportive person she was and celebrate the life she lived.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, at Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave.

A Celebration of Shanna’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Arena of Life Church, 8827 S. Washington Street, Amarillo, Texas.

Beautiful soul with an infectious laugh. Shanna loved deeply but struggled to express it to some. She will be deeply missed, but I know she is rejoicing with her mother.

Such a beautiful and sweet person. Her loss from our lives is a lovely addition to the Jesus she prayed so sweetly to. Now she and Brenda can celebrate Jesus together.
