Shirley Newsom Marton was born on December 11, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas.
She had one daughter Donna Knott of Amarillo. In the summer of 1983, she became a Grandmother for the first time to Dustin David Mendez of Amarillo and then again in 1993 to Dalton Dakota Knott who preceded her in death in December of 2013, and now he lives in Heaven.
Following her Grandsons who were the apples of her eyes, she had 2 Great Grandsons, Dayton and Rome Mendez from Amarillo, 1 Great Granddaughter Malloreigh Knott of Amarillo, and 1 Great Great Grandaughter Lexani Mendez of Amarillo, and many many young people who loved her and called her MeMe as well.
I would like to thank and mention Ed Singer of Amarillo for being my Mama’s best friend for so many years and her caregiver when she battled Breast Cancer and it went into remission and during her latest illness that came about very fast, that finally took her home to be with the Lord, on June 6 of this year.
Thank you, Mama for teaching me how to be a strong-willed woman and for teaching me to never back down from what I believe in and many more life lessons. Without you, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today. Thank you for loving and taking care of your Grandchildren and always standing by their side no matter what. You will be missed so much and life will never be the same without you. I Love You Mama
