Steven Donald Harper, 72 of Amarillo, went to the presence of the Lord Jesus, February 14, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved. Steven was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on July 4, 1953, to Albert and Elda Lou Harper. Steven married Mary Jane Scalise on April 21, 1972, in Amarillo, Texas.
Steven graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Architectural Design at Texas State Technical Institute in Amarillo, Texas. He was ordained a Deacon at Bykota Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas.
Steven loved cars, motorcycles, and building models, as well as Civil War History. He loved community service, and he delivered food to those in need. More than anything, Steven loved his family, as he would say, “God gave him the best”.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Donald Harper and Elda Lou Harper.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Jane Harper, of Amarillo, TX, his daughter, Juanita Jo Pearce and husband Bryan Pearce of Amarillo, Texas, sons, Anthony Donald Harper and wife Cinda Harper of Amarillo, Texas, Joshua William Harper and partner, Shanna Smith, of Sayre, Oklahoma, James Louis Harper and wife, Vanessa, of Amarillo, Texas, and his sister Vicki Harper of Florence, Alabama, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Papa Steve was a very good man and a awesome grandpa. Iam very proud to be his first grandchild. He was the kind of person that would give his shirt off his back for a stranger. I love u papa
