Steven E. Turner, 59, of Amarillo, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 12, 2025. A true celebration of a life well lived. Steven was born and raised in Flushing, New York, to Frank Turner and Adrienne Walter on Friday, April 29, 1966.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 S. Soncy Lane, Amarillo.
From a young age, Steven was known as someone who never met a stranger. In school, he was popular, outgoing, and deeply passionate about sports. He grew up playing stoopball and pickup basketball, building friendships everywhere he went.
At the age of 20, Steve took a leap of faith and moved to Amarillo, Texas. He spent the next 39 years doing what he loved: making friends and selling cars, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Some things never change, and for Steve, that was his love for people and his love for sports. He proudly sponsored many players for the Amarillo Rattlers, Gorillas, Wranglers, and Sod Poodles. When there was a game on, everyone knew they were welcome at the Turner house. There was always plenty of food on the grill, laughter, and good times. Steve was truly the life of the party, with an incredible ability to connect with anyone and strike up a meaningful conversation with anyone he met.
Steve loved traveling to Turkey, Texas to listen to music, celebrating the people he cared about, and cooking for those he loved. He cherished evenings spent throwing the ball with his girls, Ebby and Neko, and always made sure he got in his 10,000 steps every day. Most of all, Steve loved his daughter Brooklyn, AKA Turner twin, or Chuck.
Steve was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Frank Turner and Adrenne Walter Turner, his brother Billy Turner, and his former wife Phylecia Rowland.
Those left cherishing his memory are his daughter Brooklyn Turner, brother Kevin and wife Margo Turner, sister Sharon and husband Danny Orquera, sisters Lisa and Kelly Turner, brother-in-law Allyn Rowland, nieces and nephews Ashley and Mitchell Seymour, Colleen and Chloe Orquera, Tiffany and Noah Turner, Austin Turner and wife Mackenzie Turner, and Linzee Turner, Megan Bittner and husband Scott, Lexi Studer and husband Nathan, as well as many great nieces and nephews and countless close friends.

I meet Steve when he first moved to Lubbock,Texas. He worked at a fitness club with my husband. He always had a smile that would make you smile back . He loved New York and loved telling stories of his family and life in New York. When he moved to Amarillo and started working selling cars we made a call to him about a car and he had picked it out for me and delivered it to me in Lubbock.
My friend for 22 years. You were always there to lend a helping hand or to share some laughs with. You will be deeply missed! Rest in peace.
My wife and I were traveling in our Motor Home with another coach with us. Needing a place to stay for the weekend we called the Elks club and Steve answered and told us to come on in he had two spots open. When we got to the club Steve came out and met us and took care of us all weekend. It happened there was a regional grilling contest going on so Steve made sure we enjoyed every event going all weekend, from the cooking to the eating to the judging the event. On Sat night we left the outside tv on for Steve and some of the contestants so they could watch Texas in the World Series. We had a blast with Steve and his friends at that Lodge and have told this story many times to our friends, RIP Steve 🙏🙏
Steve, my brother, friend and Mentor. I was fresh out of college and went looking for a job, never did I ever think I’d be selling cars but I went to Westgate Chevrolet. Two days later I was a used car salesman and my first manager in the business was My Boy Steve. Because of Steve, the car business was fun and exciting everyday. 16 years later we stayed in contact and I always made sure to stop by wherever he was working to say what’s up and let him know I was doing good in life. He called me “Avon”
(my name is Mary K), so I called him “Flipper”(instead of Turner). I always considered Steve a friend and enjoyed being around him! His cooking was phenomenal, whether on the grill or the stove! He was a GREAT host and made a point to say hello any time we saw each other, typically sharing a joke or two during the interaction. Flipper, you will definitely be missed!

I’ve known Steve for over 30 years. I met him when he sold me a car. He was so friendly and charismatic even though he was a New Yorker! Ha! When I was the GM of the Amarillo Bulls he always would buy Season Tickets and made as many games as he could. I didn’t get to see him all the time but whenever we got together it was about sports and our families. He always asked about my wife and kids. He was one of kind for sure. He will be missed. RIP my friend.
A truly great man. An incredible host, an amazing cook, and someone who made people feel welcome the moment they walked in. He had a tough exterior at times, but it never came close to matching the size of his heart or how deeply he cared for his family and friends. He loved hard, lived fully, and left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with his daughter, his family, and all who loved him. He may have been born in New York, but Texas was lucky to have him. May the lord be with you Steve and tell you well done my son and welcome you home. You had an amazing ride. Rest easy now Steve.
I met Steve when I was 16 and working evenings as a secretary at Westgate Chevrolet in Amarillo (1997). Fast forward 20+ years in a small world he met and fell in love with one of my life long best friends, Tiffany. Steve was always happy but he was happiest to be with her and share his life with her. I know he’ll be deeply missed and Tiffany will always have those memories of the past 12 years they shared together. Rest in peace old friend. We’ll see you soon!
Steven and I share countless memories. I would not even know where to begin to share just one, but I can sum them all up by saying I could not have imagined my teen years being as much fun through the good times and tough times it was just great knowing we had an unconditional friendship. When he moved to Texas, sadly we didn’t see each other as often, but when we did it was if we didn’t miss a day, and of course resorted back to being the same teenage kids. Anyone that knows him knows he had a huge personality and an even bigger heart. I will miss you dearly my forever friend. Bottoms up🍹until we meet again🌬️♥️🕊️🙏🏻
