It is with both heavy hearts and fond smiles that we announce the passing of Steven Frederick Allison, 65, of Amarillo, Texas, who left us on November 26, 2024.

He was a man of many talents, all of them just a little bit larger than life, much like the legendary stories he told at every family gathering. Steve was known for his unannounced visits, often arriving just in time to “check in with” the family but always managing to stay for a meal—and maybe a nap or two.

A lifelong lover of all things mechanical, Steve spent many hours restoring old trucks, turning rusted relics into rolling works of art. And while he loved a good road trip, he would never leave without his faithful companion, Weasel, who never seemed to mind his penchant for traveling at the last minute, much to the chagrin of those left behind.

He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, who will fondly remember him for his ability to tell jokes and stories that were as entertaining as they were, usually exaggerated. Whether it was recounting tales of his youth or explaining how he could “fix anything” which meant using duct tape and a prayer. Steve had a way of making every story feel like it was a bigger deal than it really was—except for his love of the Chicago Bears. That was 100% genuine.

Though he was a master of the unplanned, Steve had a way of making everyone around him feel like they were the most important person in the room. His humor, his warmth, and his endless supply of love and wisdom will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to have been on the receiving end of one of his “surprise” visits.

In lieu of flowers, Steve would have likely preferred that you take a spontaneous trip, tell a tall tale, or perhaps restore an old truck in his memory—just don’t forget to bring the animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Josephine, and his siblings, Mike, Jerry, Pat, Karen, and Linda.

Steve leaves behind his beloved family, his spouse Terri; his estranged wife Nikki; his sons Daniel (Jacey), Jim, Shawn, Josh (Jaci), and Dakota (Justine); his daughters Angie, Josephine (David), Trish (Christopher), Corlene (Andrew), and Shannon (Daniel); his grandchildren Kody, Kacey, Ariana, Briana, Kade, Klayton, Kyle, Harper, Remington, McKayla, Presley, Isaiah, Logan, Salem, Skylynn, Dylan, Abel, and Dax, and his lifelong brothers Buddy (Patti) and Tom.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas.
