Tony “Chilo” Romero left earth to be with the Lord on September 7, 2025, in Amarillo Texas at the age of 74. He was born June 1, 1951, in Amarillo Texas to Alfonso and Louisa Romero.
He was a hard-working man, always helping family and friends. Tony worked for Furrs Cafeteria and Amarillo College for many years. He had a part-time job at Golden Spread Janitorial Service, Inc. where he was employed since 1998. He retired from Amarillo College and enjoyed his retirement life. Tony enjoyed playing bingo, slot, machines, and lottery tickets. He loved watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys with family and friends.
Tony was a special kind of man who always had a great personality, and a heart of gold. He had a way of touching everyone’s heart. Tony loved his family with all of his heart. He was the best, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfonso and Louisa Romero; his brothers, Ignacio, Gilbert, Jimmy, and Jose; a granddaughter, Cynthia Gonzales, and a son-in-law, Adam Gonzales.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lorraine Gonzales; grandchildren, Anthony, and Cecilia Gonzales, great-grandchildren, Izaya, Elias, Zion, and Zalee; a sister, Judy Quintero and her husband Willie, and a brother, Alfonso Romero, Jr. “Pelón”. Tony is also survived by his ex-wife, Rosa Herring.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 16, 2025, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Power Church, 1344 SE 10th Ave., Amarillo. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery East, at the corner of 34th and Arthur Streets.
Tony and I worked at Amarillo College, he was a nice, kind, quiet man. One thing that we both liked doing besides work, was going to Lawndale Bingo! You will truly be missed. You’re gone, but you will never be forgotten!
