Valentin, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at 70, leaving behind a family who will forever miss his laughter, his stories, and the way he made every gathering feel like home.
He was a man of simple joys: a cold beer, a good cookout, music in the background, and all his people close by. He loved sitting back, watching everyone eat, laugh, and enjoy themselves—usually with a quiet smile that said, “This is what matters.” Valentin renewed his faith by being baptized at 69, continuing to set an example of what is most important.

Proud of his roots and a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan, he never missed a game and always had something to say about it. Sundays were his favorite—football on, food on the grill, and family filling the room.

Valentin was full of life, sarcasm, and heart. He taught us that love is shown in presence, in showing up, and in enjoying the moment. He didn’t need much—just family, faith, and a reason to smile.
He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, togetherness, and memories that will live on every time the grill is lit, the Cowboys play, or the family gathers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Cruz Sustaita, and brother Reynaldo Sustaita.

Valentin is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carmen R. Sustaita; daughters Antonia Castillo and Emily Alexander; sons Valentine Sustaita, Jr., and wife, Carmen Sustaita; Steven Salazar and wife, Juanita Salazar; and son Johnny Angel Sustaita. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Carrie, Jesse, Mariah, Arianna, Alexus, Aeriole, Amber, Abraham, Anthony, Andrea, Bella, Alannah, Kassandra, Melanie, Alex, Serious, and Justine.

He treasured and delighted in his 16 great-grandchildren, always keeping a stash of candy ready to hand out to them or sitting patiently as they fixed his hair with bows and ponytails.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Cruz Sustaita, and his brother, Reynaldo Sustaita.  He is also survived by his sisters and brothers, Susie Sierra, husband Johnny Sierra; Fidela Sustaita; Rosario Ramirez; Teresa Garcia; Consuelo Trevino; Ricardo Sustaita; Antonio Sustaita; and David Sustaita; and by many nieces and nephews, friends, and loved ones.
