Werner Gerhard Vering passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in his home. He was born in Amarillo, Texas on Thursday, September 30, 1948, to Gerhard and Johanna Vering.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Amarillo, Texas at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2023. Following the mass, inurnment will be at Llano Cemetery with Military Honors. After the burial, there will be a gathering at Golden Corral banquet room, to share stories with the family.
Werner grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Bushland, Texas with his parents and siblings. He worked on the farm and in the fields until he graduated from Price Academy in 1966.
After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army in 1970. He was stationed in Germany and also in Korea. After he was honorably discharged from the military he returned to Amarillo and received his CDL. He loved being a truck driver. He was able to stop and visit with his siblings while traveling on the open road. He especially enjoyed his visits with his sister, nieces and nephew in Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Johanna Vering, a brother Paul Vering, and one sister, Anita Vering.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Cole Kent and husband Daniel; three sisters, Mary Ann Carper and husband Robert, Carol Michael and husband Philip, and Trudy Vering, and one brother Bernard Vering and wife Diana, as well as 4 grandsons and 8 great-grandbabies.
Werner u were certainly one of a kinda with an enormous heart u will be missed dearly but sure to see you on the other side one day RIP my friend prayers sent to the family and dear friends 🙏🙏
