With deep love and sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Catalina Favela-Martinez on June 20, 2025, at her home in Amarillo, Texas, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on April 30, 1964, in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico, Catalina immigrated to Texas in pursuit of a better life. Through strength, courage, and an unwavering spirit, she built a beautiful life in Amarillo, where she raised her family and became a source of light and inspiration to all who knew her.

Catalina was a woman of remarkable strength, courage, and independence. One of her proudest accomplishments came in 2022, when—at the age of 58 and while battling stage four kidney failure—she fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming a United States citizen. Her determination and resilience in the face of such immense challenges was a true testament to the kind of woman she was: brave, driven, and full of heart.

A central part of Catalina’s life was the deep and unconditional love she shared with her husband, Rogelio Becerril Martinez. Their bond was rooted in friendship, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They loved to spend time together simply cruising around Amarillo, taking in the world side by side, and making frequent trips to El Paso to visit her granddaughter Alexus and her family—moments Catalina truly cherished. Through every joy and every hardship, Rogelio was continuously by her side—loving, supporting, and caring for her in sickness and in health. The love they shared was a powerful example of true partnership and lifelong commitment.

She had a radiant personality—she loved to swim, share jokes, and bring joy wherever she went. Her laughter filled every room, and her presence brought comfort and happiness to all. One of her greatest joys was watching Days of Our Lives, a beloved tradition she enjoyed faithfully for over 40 years.

Catalina’s life was a beautiful testament to love, perseverance, and the quiet power of a strong woman. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide the generations she leaves behind.

Catalina is survived by her beloved husband, Rogelio Becerril Martinez; her children, Mario Davila, Juan Davila, Jaime Favela and wife Cecilia Favela, Rudy Davila and wife Tayrn Davila, Jeremy Davila and wife Amanda Davila, Francisco Hidalgo and wife Brittney Owens, and her daughter Karina Flores and husband Orion Flores. She was a proud grandmother to Alexus Luna and husband Issac Luna, Vania Davila, Dayvin Favela, Alyssa Favela, Rylee Favela, Nila Davila, Lanessa Davila, Gisela Davila, Rudy Davila III, Jeremy Davila Jr., Meriya Davila, and Danica Davila. Her love and legacy continue through her three great-grandchildren: Issac Sebastian Luna Jr., Jhene Namiko Luna, and Milani Davila-Edwards.

A viewing will be held at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. for family and friends. A private graveside funeral will be held the following day. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of mourning.
