Brenda Joan Belway

Brenda Joan Belway, 73, of Amarillo, passed away on October 20, 2026. She was born on June 27, 1953, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Shirley Kurschner and Walter Schultz.

Brenda was a hardworking person. She worked at TDCJ for 25 years before retiring. She had a strong Christian faith, was generous, and was always willing to help anyone in need. Brenda had a great sense of humor and handled difficult situations with dignity and grace. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley LeClair and Carl Grant; her brothers, Leonard, Donald, and Gerald; and her sisters, Carol, Carla, Julia, and Hope.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Keith Chavez of Amarillo; her sisters, Judith, Laura, Melinda, and Cheryl; one brother, Daryl of Minnesota; a daughter, Shirley Brown, and her husband, David, along with their children, Haleigh and her husband, Chris, and their children, Emilee, Rylie, and Dawson; a daughter, Rita Esparza, and her husband, Sergio, along with their children, Carolina and her husband, Korbin, and their children, Angelica and Giselle; and a son, John Belway, and his wife, Tori, along with their children, Brynn, Averie, and Alec. She is also survived by great-grandchildren McKenlee, Natalee, and Tatum.
