Eddy (Eddie) Joe Evans born February 3rd, 1949, in Matador, Texas to Billie Jo Bland and Edward “Jack” Evans. Joe left this world on May 27th,2026 at the age of 77 in Amarillo, Texas.
Joe was the oldest of six children who grew up learning the cowboy way of life. He married Theresa Marlene Rosenberry in 1967 in Dimmitt, Texas. During their marriage they had three children Anita Jo (JoJo), Jackie Lorraine, Christopher (Chris) James Evans. Joe spent most of his years traveling the road in his Purple Pete and many knew him as “Wild Child.”
When Joe was not driving, he spent his time with family and team roping with his brothers. After retiring from trucking Joe settled down in Dimmitt where he worked as a Cowboy for Rafter 3 Feedyard. Later he retired from cowboying to become the most respected night watchman of Rafter 3. Everyone that knew Joe has a story or two, although Joe’s version may be different. The stories show that Joe lived life to the fullest. Overall, he was an amazing son, brother, dad, uncle, grandad (papa) and friend to many. Family was everything to him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kathy Fuller, a brother, Robert Evans, and a great-grandson Cadence Lee Williams.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Anita (Peter) Boyce of Amarillo, Jackie Green of Amarillo, and Christopher (Denni) of Marshall, Texas; eight grandchildren, Amber (John) Plaster, Ashley (Josh) Short, Hope Green, Joshua Green, Jamie (Brandon) Wolf, Marlie Forbes, Casee Evans, Natalie Evans; ten great-grandchildren, Tera, Alyssa, Calvin, Jaxon, Tracie, Ruthann, William, Ryker, Ronan, Elias, four great-great grandchildren, Weston, Huxley, Wrynlee, Autumn; two sisters, Sue (Steve) Smith of Hart, Texas, Nancy (Mike) Heinsen of Meade, Kansas; one brother, Gary Evans of Stamford, Texas; his long time best friend, Bev Warden; a bonus daughter Angie (Eddie) Labrier; bonus granddaughter Heather Velasquez along with many nieces and nephews.
