June 9, 2026

Emma H. Lucero went home to be with the Lord after a lifetime of faithful service to God, her family, and her community.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, pastor’s wife, and servant of Christ whose life was marked by compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith. Through the years, she dedicated herself to caring for others, often expressing her love through cooking, hospitality, and acts of service.

She participated in mission work in Mexico, helping provide food and support to those in need. She also faithfully sponsored missions that provided food and assistance to hungry children in Africa, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. Locally, she served at City Church, preparing meals for children during summer and church programs, and she also cooked and served at My Father’s House Women’s Shelter, helping care for women in need within her community.

For more than two decades, she continued that ministry at Sanborn Baptist Church, where she lovingly prepared weekly meals for children and families. Her commitment to children extended far beyond the kitchen. She worked tirelessly to ensure young people could participate in meaningful experiences, helping raise funds and provide opportunities for church camp at Panfork Camp, Vacation Bible School, Christmas programs, Six Flags trips, and countless other activities that created lasting memories and strengthened their faith.

In her later years, she was a faithful member of Bolton Baptist Church, where she continued to worship, serve, and encourage others through her steadfast faith and loving spirit.

Her servant’s heart touched countless lives and reflected her deep commitment to living out her faith.

Those who knew her will remember her strength, kindness, sense of humor, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met. She believed in serving others, loving well, and trusting God through every season of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Maria Cortez, as well as several beloved siblings and family members.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Lucero; her children, Robert Joe Lucero and wife, Cecilia Lucero; Jennifer Gallardo and husband, Arturo Gallardo; Priscilla Arias and husband, Jorge Arias; and daughters Tammy Lucero; and Roberta Ashley Lucero. She is also survived by her sisters, Erendida (Randy) Vasquez, Beatrice Marquez, and Josie Escobedo; her brother, Daniel Cortez; her eight beloved grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; along with many cherished extended family members, friends, and members of her church family.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she faithfully loved and served throughout her life. Her legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday June 11, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., at Bolton Street Baptist Church, 2555 S. Bolton St. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery East, at the corner of 34th and Arthur Streets.
