Eric James Torres, age 44, was born on November 4, 1980, in Hereford, Texas. He passed away on July 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love.
Eric was a man of many gifts—a hardworking oilfield hand, a jack-of-all-trades with a wrench in one hand and a helping hand in the other. He was always ready to lend a tool, an ear, or a joke when you needed it most. He was the kind of man you could count on—whether it was fixing a motor, hanging out with friends, or enjoying a cold one.
He had a deep love for Harley Davidsons, the outdoors, and dogs. His wit was unmatched, his loyalty unwavering, and his greatest pride in life was being a father. His family was his whole world.
Eric was preceded in death by his beloved father, John Torres; his grandparents, Gabriel Estrada, Joe Torres, and Victoria Torres; his mother-in-law, Janice Vail; uncles Joe Torres Jr., Daniel Torres Sr., Ricky Lee Torres, and Ricky Torres; as well as cousins Vanessa Ortiz and Heidi Torres, and several aunts.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Alma “BeBe” Torres; his loving wife, Jessica Torres; his children, Eric Josiah Torres, Elijah Torres, and Abrianna “BriBri” Torres; and bonus daughters, Miesha Gonzalez and Aaliyah Earl. He was also a proud grandfather to two bonus grandchildren.
Eric also leaves behind his cherished siblings: sister Monica Torres-Salinas and her husband, Ozzie Salinas; brothers John Gabriel “JT” Torres and Louis Joe “Louie” Torres, along with Louie’s wife, Marina “Aro” Torres. He was a proud uncle to 13 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews—each of whom he made feel like they were his favorite.
Eric’s love extended far beyond his immediate family. He was a brother, cousin, and friend to many—always ready with a beer, a mischievous grin, or a well-timed comeback. His absence will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
We will miss his wittiness, his generous spirit, and the way he made every moment count. Rest easy, Eric. Watch over us, and know you were deeply loved.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00-5:00 p.m. this Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the funeral home.
