Francisco “Frank” Avila

Francisco “Frank” Avila, 79, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday December 11, 2024. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on April 2, 1945.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo.

A Funeral Service will be held the next day, Saturday, December 21, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery East, located at the corner of 34 th and Arthur Streets.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin and Virginia Avila; two brothers, Celestine and Julian Cortez; a son, Francisco Avila, Jr., and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Mendoza.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Lucia Hill of Hereford, Texas, and Alberta Montoya of Floresville, Texas; his children, Gloria Mendoza and Mario Avila, both of Hereford, Texas, and Lorina Flores, Anthony Flores, and Robert Flores, all of Amarillo; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
