Gillermo Hernandez, 64, passed away on July 26, 2026. He was born on October 19, 1961, in Morton, Texas, to Ignacio and Virginia Hernandez.
Gigi was a talented mechanic with a natural talent for woodworking. He had a gift of fixing just about anything and creating things from scratch. He took pride in working with his hands and found satisfaction in solving problems that others thought couldn’t be fixed. After the life-changing accident that left him wheelchair bound, he never let it define who he was; instead, he continued living life on his own terms. Known by many for his stories, jokes, and unforgettable one-liners, he never met a stranger. Gigi always had the ability to make friends wherever he went. He looked forward to his weekly poker nights with good friends. He enjoyed cooking with his family and hosting Thanksgiving at his house every year.
His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. Some of their sweetest memories are of climbing onto his wheelchair for their little rides and adventures they shared. Every child, grandchild, sibling, relative, and friend has their own memory to share and countless stories to tell.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Hernandez, and his brother, Thomas Hernandez.
He is survived by beloved sons, Nicholas Hernandez and wife Stephanie, and Timothy Hernandez and wife Samantha; his cherished grandchildren, Eva Hernandez, Aiden Hernandez, Jace Hernandez, Azalea Hernandez, and Jasper Hernandez; his father, Ignacio Hernandez; brothers, Rickie, John, and Jessie Hernandez; sisters, Margaret Hernandez, and Susan Madrigal; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
The family has chosen to honor his memory privately. While they are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support they have received, they respectfully ask for privacy as they celebrate his life and grieve together.
