Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Iva Jean Tomlin, 78, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of October 28, 2026.
Iva Tomlin was a woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, and grace. She was a force of nature- unyielding, loving to all, and unforgettable to all who loved her. Iva built a life defined by devotion. She was a devoted daughter and sister, and a proud, guiding mother to all her children. She was a doting grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, as well as a generous friend to those close to her. Iva was happiest surrounded by family whom she loved and cherished. Her home was a safe haven for all who entered.
As one family member said, “We were all special to her. She cared so deeply for her family and loved everyone with her whole heart.” She enjoyed crafting, making dolls for her grandchildren, cross-stitching, and crocheting beautiful blankets for her loved ones. She knew what she liked and what she didn’t. She enjoyed a good romance novel but didn't like driving on the highway or going fast in a car. She had a calm demeanor and a joyful spirit. Her soft laughter could fill a room and fill our hearts. Her absence has left a tremendous hole in our hearts, one that can never be filled. We will forever hold close the lasting memories we made with her for the time we had. It’s not goodbye; it’s see you later.
Iva was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Tomlin, her parents, Joe and Willy Lane, her brothers, Calvin Laane, Jackie Lane and Jimmy Lane.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her five children, Danette (Jeff) Mumau, Debrah Hamby, Tammy (Eddie) Cavazos, John (Leticia) Tomlin and Calvin (Racheal) Tomlin; her sister, Joleta Bybee; her brother Bob (Cathy) Lane; 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and her lifelong best friend, Sandra Blanscet.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. at 8105 Leah Trail, Amarillo, TX 79110.
