John Venable

John Venable, 78, of Amarillo, passed away December 26, 2023. He was born September 25, 1945, in Oneonta, New York to Frank and Margeurite Venable.

John proudly served in the United States Army for eight years and fought in Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart. He moved to Amarillo after his service, and married Elizabeth Ann Ferguson. John retired from the U.S. Post Office after many years of service. He was a model train enthusiast. He had a great personality and loved giving gag gifts. John enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Elizabeth Ann Venable.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Cathy Schubert, Kim West, Patricia Donahue, and Alan Duncan, Jr.; a brother, Carl Venable; his grandchildren, Jessica Garza, Paul Garza, Ricky Garcia, Mandy Gonzales, Kassy Donahue, Trevor Donahue, Drew Trump, Jaden Duncan, Lynn Duncan, Nathen Duncan, and Haley Duncan; great-grandchildren, Mya Mata, Noah Mata, Leah Mata, and Gabriel Garcia, and one great-great-grandchild, Kaymon Mata-Gandy; a niece Robyn Venable, and a nephew, Carl Roberts.
