John William Mott

John William Mott, 79, of Amarillo, passed away on March 15, 2026. An Amarillo native, John was born on November 11, 1946, to Haywood and Jewel (Berry) Mott.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas.

John enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a firearms collector and loved target shooting. John also loved photography and video production.

He often traveled with his siblings throughout his life, and the New Mexico mountains were one of his favorite destinations.

As director of the Amarillo Recovery Center, John was passionate about helping men overcome addiction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Haywood and Jewel Berry Mott; brothers, James Mott, and TJ Mott; sisters, Julie Herring and MaryBeth Crawford; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Herring and Porter Crawford.

John is survived by his sister-in-law, Rita Mott; his nieces and nephews, Philip Mott, Dennis and Carolyn Skog of Florida, Charlotte Walsh, Kathi Weger, Cindy and Eric Combs of Amarillo, Debbie Hudler of Canyon Lake, Sharon and Dub Taylor of Boerne, Angie and Tim Bagwell of Claude, and Porter Crawford of Angel Fire, New Mexico. He is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
