Richard Allan West, 68, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on July 5, 2025, just ten days before his 69th birthday. A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, devoted father, and masterful fixer of all things, Richard’s strength, dedication, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Richard was born on July 15, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, the youngest of six siblings. … Whether it was fixing something around the house or crafting in his workshop, Richard was always working with his hands and solving problems.

He served honorably in the United States Air Force for 27 years as a civil engineer. His work took him around the world, including a long and meaningful posting in Spain, where he built numerous lifelong friendships and treasured memories, He took great pride in serving his country. For Richard, it was more than a career, it was an honor. His time in the Air Force shaped who he was.

Richard was, above all else, tough. He stood firm in his beliefs, never backed down from a fight, and faced every challenge head-on. He was a fighter in every sense – steady, grounded, and fiercely loyal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Jane West; a brother Thomas West Jr., and sisters Maple Maynard, Bonnie Maxim, Joyce Ames.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Angela and Rachel West as well as his sister Louise Ramien, who carry his legacy and spirit forward, by his extended family and many friends. He leaves behind not just a lifetime of service and hard work, but a deep well of love, lessons, and lasting impact.
